Govan was the centre of the Clyde's 100 year history of building the best ships in the world. While the phrase "Clyde-built" is still used to denote quality, innovation and stregth in engineering, by the turn of the 21st century very little remained of this proud heritage. After almost a decade in the planning, fundraising and repair, full restoration of the former offices of the Fairfield Yard could be undertaken. The buidling now houses a hertigate centre, offices and workspaces.
The Club visited in 2011 as the restoration was getting underway. Link here to the Fairfield Govan website
